SUMMARY:Smoke on the Lake BBQ Festival
DESCRIPTION:The annual Smoke on the Lake Barbecue Festival takes place on Friday\, May 10 and Saturday\, May 11\, 2023 at Logan Farm Park. The festival features a Friday night Lord of the Wings competition.   Each participating BBQ team prepares their own special flavor of chicken wings and you get to be the judge at 6pm.   The competition is followed by a concert under the stars starting at 8pm. \nOn Saturday\, BBQ teams from all over the Southeast will compete in professional and amateur divisions to see who will take home the title  this year.  The  Saturday event will feature another people’s choice competition where you get to be the judge\, and taste different pork entries from all of the participating cook teams. \nGreat weather\, great music\, great BBQ and Cold Beer. DESCRIPTION:The ceremony to honor those who have given their lives in service to our country will be held on Saturday\, May 25 at 10:00 a.m. in Cauble Park at Patriots Point. Veterans and current servicemen will pay tribute to brave men and women who have fought and died for our nation. Engraved pavers dedicated to those who have served in our armed forces that have been purchased since the previous Veterans Day will be presented at the event. \nFor more information on the event contact Jeff Chase at jchase@acworth.org or call 770-917-1234. \n\n\nIf you have not seen the Veterans Memorial at Patriot’s Point at Cauble Park\, make sure you take an opportunity to stop by. The service flags of the Army\, Navy\, Marine Corps\, Air Force and Coast Guard surround the American Flag. The concrete dome structure is surrounded by a paver walkway with engraved pavers. \nYou can honor a veteran by purchasing pavers. The pavers are available in 4×4 or 8×8 sizes. With the 4×4\, you get 3 lines\, each with up to 18 characters engraved on the pavers. The 8×8 comes with 4 lines\, each with up to 18 characters engraved on it.\nOrder forms can be picked up at the Acworth Parks and Recreation Department Office\, Acworth City Hall\, or downloaded by clicking here.
